The time on the clock stopped at 12am.
far off in the distance I could hear the motors of the waiting trains
the sodium lights cast an orange hue into the darkness
from the yard where the nightshift worked.

The humming of the motors lasted into the night
and I sat there with you one last time
it was Gabriel that collected your soul
from your body that laid on the couch.

I lit up a cigarette and blew a plume of smoke into the air
and watched as she dug her hand deep into your chest
with force she raised the dead
into a painless light.

When you were finally gone I turned off the lights
butted my cigarette into the tray
closed the door on this chapter
and fell into a deep cold.

I crushed my knuckles to feel alive
to feel more than the emptiness I felt
I picked up the battle you left behind
into the darkness where the orange lights glow.

The surrounding streets are quiet at night
and sometimes I can smell the lake
the mist hangs heavy and distorts my sight
the rage I carry eats away at my soul.

The shore stretches along the memory of time
hatred erodes the stones that hold back the waves
eventually everything in Mimico will die
even the despair I now carry.

The Gods above tempted me with delights
yet I could never leave
as I carry the soul of Sisyphus
pass the yard where the trains sit waiting.

The full moon shine but once a year
the path it shows holds no judgements
one by one they leave in the night
surrendering the pain that binds their souls.

Coldness seeps into my being
loneliness is a tide that never arrives
my aged mind enters a madness
reserved for those that die in Mimico.

A pendant loops the neck of Gabriel
it now houses my soul
my eternal chapter forever written
above the orange hue where the trains wait.
