by Michael Plante

I was born with the spirit of a horse
the strength I have can move a mountain
and drag a thousand years across a desert with ease;
endure a harsh storm brought on by the darkness
and run faster than a westerly wind.
I have no fear
I feel no pain
my heart pounds like thunder.
The spirit of my people run through me like a river
it flows through my veins
echoing in my ears.
My love is boundless
and spreads as wide as the skies
touching all that live under the eye of the Creator.
I shall not be broken
by terms or conditions
there is no mediation with a spirit horse,
and there shall be none with me.
My name is Kissing Sky
my reserve knows no boundaries
I understand my ancestors
my people and their dreams.
I charge the new rise that has come
unwritten pages fall from the sky
new stories to be told
by children born unto innocence.
They shall crease the pages
and bind them forever in the fold.
There is no trail to follow
dust only settles upon those that stand still
I do not chase the past
for it shackles spirits that are meant to run.
I breath in the air that is the Creator’s breath
clean and pure is his essence
it fuels my direction and strengthens my resolve
the eternal gift is here and now.
What remains shall be claimed
by children yet to be born.
They too shall inherit the spirit of the horse
and pound their destiny into the soil
forwarding a legacy once denied
by those that choke on unsettled dust.
My name is Kissing Sky
I shall not be negotiated
my life is not designed by terms and conditions
nor is the love of my Creator.
I was born with a fire in my soul
I was born with the spirit of a horse
I was born to run free.
