The grand illusion was constructed by arrogance
of a man wanting to become a captain;
to place himself at the helm of a ship
that promised to reach the heavens.
Sold to those wanting more
they each brought a plank and constructed that ship
and when it was built they christened it Irony of the Sea.

Come forth with your worries and help raise the flag
sail upon the maddening seas;
we take to the stars at dawn’s first light
as the winds of humanity catches our sails.
We shall rule the waves
and all that fall beneath the sea
and by twilight’s last gleaming
we shall reach the heavens as kings and queens.

They shouted out to the captain and praise him accordingly
danced with his ego and bowed to his whims;
what the captain receives he has earned.
By the light of God or the light of the moon
they relish in their ego and rode the high seas
feasting from deep illicit behaviors.
Our flag owns the skies
our ship rules this world.

The moral compass that is held by the captain
of the ship known as madness
shall bring forth the rocky shoreline
that crashes the hull and falls society.
Pound their flesh upon the rocks
let the oceans run red with their blood
hear the breaking of their bones and the cries of their woes
before they’re taken out to sea
by the hand of God or the ship of irony.
