The Last Post

Where do we go from here?
Now that those left have turned to rust and memory has falter.
They weren’t wrong in their endeavors, nor short of will.
They drew their intentions in the soil at Vimy Ridge
with blood of the fallen.

Can we be taught or are we doomed?
Will the touch of vigilance be carried forward
or will the darkness consume it completely.
What results behold us we may never know.
The integral line drawn in the soil
has faded into the mind of those that have rusted.
